Paths we walk each day

Drews Pond Wood, Devizes UK

The dappled sunlight pokes through the trees and dances upon my face; I'm walking barefoot along this beautiful forest trail. My imagination is drifting off to the thoughts of those who have walked this path before me.

As I walk for pleasure, grounding myself back into the earth and drinking up the wisdom of the ancient trees surrounding me, I envisage a very different story for those who have gone before.

Were they seeking refuge, on their way to work or foraging for food?

A different scenario for each step taken. A way of life that most likely differs from today's pursuit. A forest filled with secrets, of emotions, left deep in the nooks and crannies of the flora and fauna that now bloom before me.

Scared, happy or thoughtful - did they succeed in their quest?
Did the forest bear them the fruit they needed to continue?
I wonder...I close my eyes and step into the footsteps of the past; who knows what it will bring?
